Philosophy Statement

I believe education and learning is for everyone and that everyone should be given the chance to be educated. Art education gives students a different perspective at learning, nothing is ever the wrong or right way to being creative, its just about doing and developing something that is there’s to be proud of. Having an open and friendly art room builds the foundation for a strong student teacher relationship. The students play a big role in the classroom I am very fond of peer group activities that encourages critical discussion and creative problem-solving, they also discover and teach me as the teacher new things for the future us in classroom.

Teaching is all about giving back, my secondary school experience with a learning difficulty showed me that understanding different ways of learning and different teaching strategies helps students belief in their work, enhances their outlook on life not just in the school environment and can be a developed into meaning learning experience. Creating strong unites of learning with achievable success criteria that is visible throughout the lessons can help to enable the students aim high for their own learning and personal goals. I believe that the use of alterative teaching can be applied to the area of assessment as well. The use of variety in assessment can give access to the students who struggle with everyday assessment.

My strength lies within the building of relationships with colleagues and students being hands on in the learning and development, observant and objectively looking at classes. I found through my teaching experiences that pedagogical approaches are a key component in striking a balance through inquiry learning. Direct instruction and use of visual aids in the form of imagery and physical artifacts that allow for them to feel the tactile surfaces in a more inquisitive way. This can open their minds more to thinking creativity and critically, ensuring that they pick up the relevant skills, knowledge, and artistic language. Planning and resourcing as the teacher is another area that can help in gaining a balance within the unites of learning and lesson plans so that it facilitates a strong student-centred learning classroom. Reflection such as self and peer feedback can also encourage them to be more open and observant in their learning.
